Margaret,
Our daily lives have changed during this crisis as schools, workplaces, and communities have closed to stop the spread of COVID-19. But we know a disruption to our daily routine doesn't mean our lives can be put on pause.
We applaud those going to work on the frontlines, while other stay home and balance working from home. Working from home and social distancing comes with unexpected challenges. Whether you're adjusting to working from home or becoming the family's teacher and nanny, here are some helpful tips to get through your day:
- Structured schedules: It's helpful to keep yourself and your kids on track with scheduled daily routines that include work time, play time, and helpful lesson plans and materials.
- Productive habits: Working from home can be distracting, technically challenging, or lonely. Setting up a work desk away from distractions and keeping in touch with colleagues are ways to increase your productivity from home.
- Manage expectations: You may be juggling five new roles in your household and technological complications may be slowing you down. Be honest with yourself and others about priorities and capabilities.
- Self-care: Remember to continue investing in yourself. Take a walk, create an exercise routine, or just take a break during the day for yourself.
- Long-term projects: Remember that garden you dreamed of growing, or that squeaky faucet you meant to fix? Now is a good time to begin those personal projects or housework you've been putting off.
We're all doing our best to adapt to this new environment. Working and learning from home can be challenging, but it's important we do our part by social distancing and staying at home while these measures are in place.
Stay healthy and safe,
Team My Care, My Choice
