  Can you believe it's already the middle of July!? The summer is rolling right along and so is the team here at My Care, My Choice – we couldn't be more excited to share with you the second edition of the My Care, My Choice monthly newsletter.
This month's newsletter offers you more helpful tips to stay safe this summer and will focus on Medicare and Medicaid's upcoming 55th birthday this month. We've also recapped our petition efforts and ask, if you haven't already, to lend your name to help spread the word about health care coverage options available to Americans during this crisis.
And with that, let's get right to it!
Stay Safe
As we better understand the role we can play in preventing the spread of COVID-19, it's important to stay safe and vigilant. With almost every state in the country seeing more cases every day, keeping on top of basic, easy to do tasks can make a world of difference when staying safe.
From washing your hands and wearing a mask to staying at least six feet away from others, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has updated their guidelines on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. In addition to taking preventative measures, it's also important to understand how the virus spreads, which is through air droplets passed from person-to-person. The most effective way to prevent COVID-19 is by practicing social distancing.
Make sure to keep yourself and family up to date as we all do our part and remember, if you feel sick, consult your health care provider.

Did you know that fifty-five years ago this month, Medicare and Medicaid became law? The passage of these critical programs helped create the pillars of our modern-day health care system. Today, millions of Americans rely on these programs for their health care needs with over 60 million Americans enrolled in Medicare and more than 70 million in Medicaid.
Medicare and Medicaid were created to help seniors, disabled Americans, and low-income families live longer, healthier lives by providing accessible, affordable health care. During this critical moment, when millions of Americans are depending on our health care system, it is important to keep the promise of Medicare for future generations and maintain and strengthen Medicaid for Americans.
