Margaret,   Not to sound like a broken record, but choice matters when it comes to health care. As a My Care, My Choice supporter, you know how important this is, but today we're celebrating the significance of choice because open enrollment has begun.   Open enrollment is a period of time each year when you can sign up for health insurance, re-enroll, or change your plan through your job, Medicare, or the health care marketplace. You have the opportunity now to choose the health care plan that is best for you. Make sure to act fast because open enrollment ends on December 15.   More than 11.4 million Americans enrolled in a marketplace plan last fall, and that number will likely rise during the public health crisis the country is facing. During this critical time, make sure to assess your health care needs and available coverage options.   What can you expect for your new health coverage? Here are some of the many benefits that are covered by all health insurance plans: Americans with pre-existing conditions are guaranteed access to health coverage and care Young adults can stay on their parents' health insurance plans until they turn 26 Annual check-ups are covered There are no limits on lifetime and annual coverage There are 10 essential health benefits – ranging from preventive care to prescriptions drugs and emergency care services We know getting affordable, high quality health coverage and care is important to you now more than ever.
